The company is specialized in localization engineering, they localize, among others, websites, multimedia supports, medical instructions, notices and software. They provide their services to large organizations as well as small ones. They use a special process to meet the goal of their clients. When a project comes in, they first take a look at the client’s project then, they analyze what needs to be done, at last they use their resource files to reach these needs.

Nick, one of the project managers, explained us that the most important is to put together translation and technique for a perfect translation or localization. As they work with plenty of companies coming from diverse fields, they use a lot of CAT tools, some basic ones like Trados and MemoQ but they also developed their own system named TMS (translation management system). MediaLocate’s computer engineers created a system which helps their translators and project managers dealing with technical processes (pre-processing and post-processing) and performs all the changes in an automatic way.

Nick claimed that to be a great project manager or translator we have to ‘Get our hands on real projects’.

MediaLocate works with 26 languages in different formats from medical translations and telecommunication notices to videogames and STAR WARS. It is a mid-size company with 35 smart full-time employees and 80 worldwide freelancers in their native country. This company is attractive to clients because of the diversity of services proposed, despite its small and compact size/ although it is small and compact.

MediaLocate CEO, Stephan Lins, a localization veteran gave us this advice: ‘becoming an expert in a field will take a while’. So if you’re interested by localization, one thing: be patient!
