Oracle

On Thursday 8th October, the CAWEB students went to the Silicon Valley for a one-day trip.

We had the chance to go to Facebook’s main office for some pictures and to have lunch at Google Tech Corners, thanks to our hosts Fabiana and Matt.

Last but not least, in the afternoon we all went to Oracle’s office to attend a meeting with Mr. Vieillard-Baron, one of the Finances, Business Operations & Product management’s Directors.

Oracle has been known for a long time for its software like MySQL databases or the platform Java,  and more recently Oracle Cloud services. As a matter of fact, the Cloud Services are what the company is putting all its efforts into these days as well as its security.

There are three types of cloud services: the Saas (Software as a service), the Paas (Platform as a service) and the Iaas(Infrastructure as a service). However, for the past few years, the lack of the security towards clouds has been shown through the media. That is why Oracle is working on a brand new cloud, created for large enterprises, which offers much more services than other any cloud ever had.

To keep on growing Oracle’s Cloud Services potential, the company often organizes keynote line-up to highlight new features and to explain why it is for the customers’ benefit and how it makes innovation easier.
