On October 7th, after meeting students of the Middlebury Institute, we had an opportunity to dive deeper into the world of localization with a visit of MediaLocate, a translation and localization company located nearby, in Pacific Grove.
We were welcomed by the CEO, Stephen Lins, and his team who introduced us to the company as well as their day-to-day working environment and process. MediaLocate provides translation and localization services in over 150 languages. With production offices located in Slovakia, China or Thailand, and translators working from all over the world on some of the largest localization projects, MediaLocate still remains a human scale company.
During the company tour, we visited the in-house production studio where the team carries out audio and video localization projects, multimedia being one of the company strengths. Thanks to the MediaLocate team, Master Caweb students had a better understanding of the skills, environment and purposes of the localization industry.
